WATCH: Interview Series with Dr. William Terrill, SCJ ’94

SCJ Instructor Dr. Beth Adubato Interviews Dr. William Terrill, SCJ ’94

Dean McCarthy: “Inspiring interview in which Dr. Terrill talks about his journey from a police officer in the Air Force to graduate study at Rutgers School of Criminal Justice, to his position as Professor in the School of Criminology & Criminal Justice at Arizona State University (ASU) and his appointment as Associate Dean of Watts College of Public Service & Community Solutions at ASU. Dr. Terrill talks about his path-breaking work with the Phoenix police department, exploring how officers think about the situations in which they may use deadly force. He also shares his thoughts on how body camera footage will be a useful tool for improving policing but also providing the public with a more nuanced view of the day-to-day demands police officer face.”
