2025 Undergraduate Alumni Awards
Early Career Excellence Award
Alexia Kaff
Presented in recognition for a record of significant accomplishment in the field of criminal justice within 5 years of graduating from the School.

Alexia Kaff graduated summa cum laude from Rutgers University–Newark, School of Criminal Justice, earning a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice. She began her career at the New York County District Attorney’s Office, where she was an Investigative Analyst in the Police Accountability Unit, contributing to police misconduct investigations and prosecutions, earning public recognition in the DA Office’s press release for her efforts. She deepened her work by transitioning to the Witness Aid Services Unit’s Victim Assistance Center as a Victim Services Advocate, where she worked directly with survivors of violence to provide social service support.
Using education and public speaking as tools for justice, Alexia pioneered the first analyst presentation on police accountability at the DA’s Office and delivered a guest lecture on violence against women at Saint Louis University. Deeply committed to empowering the next generation of justice practitioners, she participated in the DA Office’s High School Resume Workshop, provided career mentorship to first-generation pre-law students through the education non-profit organization America Needs You (ANY), and currently supports undergraduate students pursuing careers in law and criminal justice through Rutgers Student Alumni Career Connect (SACC) across all campuses. Additionally, Alexia has contributed extensively to academic research at the School of Criminal Justice, serving as a research assistant on projects examining judicial communication patterns and the role of language in procedural justice in New Jersey, the lives of Muslim and Hindu sex workers in New Delhi, India, and currently, criminal desistance among men in Cape Town, South Africa.
Alexia will continue her commitment to justice by pursuing an MPhil in Criminology at the University of Cambridge, UK, where she plans to focus her research on international criminal law and conflict-related violence. Her goal is to become a criminologist whose work amplifies criminology’s role in addressing international crimes and expands the field’s pedagogy. She is also a passionate learner of geography, culture, and languages, especially Arab culture (with a love for Moroccan pop and Algerian Raï), and has visited several countries. She speaks English, has studied Spanish, and is self-taught in French, which she further developed during time spent in France. Alexia is determined to continue using her voice and multidisciplinary skills to advance justice across borders and shape the future of the field.
