Jimmy Camacho (he/him/his) serves as the Assistant Dean of Graduate Programs and Enrollment Services in the Office of Academic Programs and Student Services at the Rutgers School of Criminal Justice. In this role, he oversees admissions, recruitment, academic advising, enrollment management, and student retention initiatives for the School’s graduate programs. He works collaboratively with faculty, school leadership, and university partners to advance strategic enrollment goals and support a diverse, talented, and mission-driven student community dedicated to advancing justice and serving the public good.

With more than 25 years of experience in higher education administration, Dean Camacho has built a career centered on student success, enrollment management, academic support, and inclusive excellence. Prior to joining Rutgers University in 2010, he held several positions at Touro College in New York City, including Admission Counselor, Student Counselor, and Graduation Coordinator, supporting students across liberal arts and health sciences programs.

Dean Camacho holds a Master’s degree in Human Resource Administration and a Bachelor’s degree in Social Science and Psychology. He completed the Rutgers Leadership Academy Fellows Program in 2024, a prestigious university-wide leadership development initiative designed to cultivate emerging leaders across Rutgers. He is also a doctoral candidate in the Doctor of Education (Ed.D.) program at Rutgers University-New Brunswick, where his scholarly interests include higher education leadership, equity and inclusion, identity, and the experiences of historically marginalized communities within higher education.

In recognition of his leadership, service, and commitment to the Rutgers-Newark community, Dean Camacho received the 2022 Rutgers-Newark Beloved Community Award. He currently serves as a member of the Rutgers-Newark Staff Council, contributing to initiatives that support staff engagement, shared governance, and institutional excellence. His professional and scholarly work reflects a deep commitment to fostering student success, advancing equitable educational opportunities, and promoting inclusive institutional practices that support diverse learners and communities.
