Dr. Lopez-Aguado’s research interests include Race and Incarceration, Juvenile Justice, Youth and Street Cultures, and Urban Ethnography. His work has been published in Ethnography and in Performing the US Latina and Latino Borderlands. He is currently preparing an article on the institutional production of violence and criminality in carceral facilities, and is developing a book manuscript about how criminalized young people learn and appropriate the racialized conflicts of the adult prison system.
At Santa Clara, he teaches Principles of Sociology, Sociology of the Criminal Justice System, and Sociology of Deviance, Sociology of Crime, Gender and Justice, and Sociology of Law.
